Protekta DPC
Damp proof course.
Protekta DPC is
a solution for rising damp in brick or concrete
block walls. It is a water-based, low viscosity,
silane, silonol-siloxane solution, which
has been specifically formulated to penetrate
into wet walls. Once impregnated into a course
of brickwork, DPC reacts with the materials.
This durable polymer damp course permanently
stops rising damp to make them hydrophobic.
Uses
It can be used for rising damp problem in brick, and concrete
blocks
Advantages
• Easy to product providing Alkali stable formulation
• Provides permanent solution to rising damp
Application
1. Remove skirting or floor board and
plaster to a height of 1 foot to expose brick.
2. In the case of 4 1/2” thick
walls, holes are to be drilled at the joint between the
1st and 2nd layer of brick.
3. In the case of 9” bricks, holes
are to be drilled in 2nd and 3rd layer of brick.
4. Fit 500ml plastic bottle with silane
drip tube of appropriate length.
5. Fill the bottle with Protekta DPC
Liquid attach the tubing, invert and hang on a scaffolding
(Lab stands) such that
the bottles are higher
than the holes that are drilled.
6. Insert the drip tubes inside the holes
made in the brick.
7. Make a pinhole at the base of each
bottle at allow air to enter.
8. Adjust the rate such that the holes
remain full but do not overflow.
9. Allow DPC to continuously enter the
bricks until they are completely saturated and DPC solution
begins to overflow from
holes. Care must be
taken to ensure the entire exposed brick area appears to
be wet before ending the process,
the holes through
which DPC is being injected may show signs of overflow
simply due to flow rate of liquid.
10. This may take 12 to 15 hours depending on brick type.
11. Once complete saturation is achieved tubes can be removed.
12. Allow to dry for a day and plaster with using Protekta
KR2.
Dosage : Depends on the porosity of the bricks.
Packing : 20L, & 50L (other sizes available upon request)
Caution : Highly alkaline product, use personal protection wear.
